Before getting into social work and mental health counseling, I served in the Air Force for six years. Other than the three years they had me in North Dakota (I am NOT a fan of the cold), I loved that it allowed me to see the world and meet people from all different backgrounds. The structure, clear expectations, and sense of community fit me well, but I knew I wanted to help people in a different way than military service. It was an honor to serve and I’m grateful for my experience and the opportunity to afford graduate school. I received my Master of Social Work from Salisbury University. During my program, I interned at an oncology program and a mental health clinic. After graduation, I spent the next few years working on an inpatient psychiatric unit while maintaining an outpatient caseload through the hospital’s mental health clinic. Through this work, I began noticing that the clients I did the best work with were the ones who were overly self-critical high-achievers dealing with anxiety and depression. For virtual therapy, you’ll receive a Zoom link for your video session a couple of days day before our session. During your first session, we’ll get to know each other a bit while figuring out what you want to get out of our work together. This first session is about an hour long to help me get a sense of what’s going on. Every session after this will be about 45 to 55 minutes. Payment is collected after your session through the card we have on file.
